The Sunday after W&L’s 2024 Mock Convention, Alabama native and sorority president Cordelia Frances posted an Instagram story showcasing of a diamond on her freshly-manicured hand.
“Proud to accept the nomination to be @bgaines’s wife!” the caption read.
Frances, 20, it was “love at first sight” between her and fiancé Beauregard Gainesborough, 21, when the two met at the Wesley Hunt pregame on Saturday.
As a Texas native, Gainesborough was playing host to the representative and had gone back to his room to scrounge up more Busch before Frances wandered in, looking for a safe place to stow her jacket.
“Are you a delegate? Because you’ve got my vote for the hottest girl here,” Gainesborough said.
The two skipped most of Mock Con’s third session getting to know each other before Gainesborough decided that he wanted to introduce Frances to his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Gainesborough, conveniently located at one of the tables with the nicer view in the VIP section, found Frances to be a sweet girl, and told their son they’d be honored to have her as a daughter-in-law.
Frances revealed that their first child will be named Con or Connie, short of Mock Convention, the event that brought the pair together.
